Three Commercial Vehicles Seized After Carrying Loads 50% Over Limit

Date:

Two lorries and a trailer were seized after they were found carrying loads exceeding 50 per cent of their permitted limits during Ops Rentas Sempadan along the Kuantan-Kemaman border.

Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Syed Ahmad Khirulanwar Alyahya Syed Abdul Rahman said one of the lorries was carrying a load of stones, while the trailer was transporting steel bars.

The three commercial vehicles were seized under Section 80(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 for further action.

He said the vehicles were among 43 cases involving overloaded vehicles recorded during the three-day operation from August 18 to 20.

“During the joint operation with Terengganu JPJ, a total of 316 vehicles were inspected, with 112 of them facing action for various offences.

“From this figure, 122 summons notices and 180 other notices were issued for various offences,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Syed Ahmad Khirulanwar said the operation targeting commercial vehicles carrying excessive loads was part of continuous enforcement efforts by Pahang and Terengganu JPJ to ensure compliance with road transport regulations, particularly vehicle load limits.

He said ongoing enforcement was necessary to curb overloading, which could affect vehicle stability and contribute to road damage, while also increasing safety risks for other road users.

“All commercial vehicle operators and owners are urged to comply with the prescribed load limits at all times to ensure the safety of all road users,” he said.
