Newlywed Soldier Killed In Crash Just Days After Wedding, Wife Seriously Injured

Date:

A 24-year-old soldier who had only recently celebrated his wedding reception died following a three-vehicle crash along Kilometre 0.7 of Jalan Tampin-Gemas here on Tuesday.

The victim was riding a Yamaha Xmax scooter with his wife as the pillion rider when the accident occurred at about 3.15pm.

Tampin district police chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said the crash involved the Yamaha Xmax, a Perodua Bezza and a Perodua Viva.

Initial investigations found that the Bezza, driven by a 20-year-old local man, was travelling from Tampin towards Gemas when it allegedly entered the opposite lane and collided with the motorcycle.

“The impact caused the Perodua Bezza to spin before it struck a Perodua Viva driven by a 39-year-old local woman,” he said in a statement today (26 Aug).

Both the motorcycle rider and his wife sustained serious head injuries in the collision. They were rushed to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah for medical treatment.

Despite efforts to save him, the soldier was pronounced dead at the hospital at about 9.30am today (26 Aug). His wife remains seriously injured, also suffering head injuries.

The tragedy came just days after the couple held their wedding reception on Sunday, turning what should have been a joyful new chapter in their lives into a devastating loss for the family.
