11-Year-Old Boy’s Playtime Turns Into Nightmare After Metal Toy Sword Pierces Finger

Date:

What began as an ordinary childhood game turned into a frightening ordeal for an 11-year-old boy in Sandu County, Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou, China, after a metal toy sword accidentally pierced through his finger.

The incident happened on August 20 when the boy was playing with a metal toy sword measuring around 15cm long. During the game, the sword accidentally went through the middle finger of his right hand, leaving him in need of urgent medical attention.

His parents quickly brought him to the Sandu County Fire and Rescue Brigade for help at around 8pm. However, firefighters decided against removing the object immediately as any sudden or improper movement could have caused further injury.

The rescuers then headed to Sandu County People’s Hospital together with the boy, where medical staff assisted with the delicate operation. The unusual rescue required close coordination between firefighters and doctors to avoid worsening the injury.

Under the doctor’s guidance, firefighters first disinfected the metal sword before using a ring-cutting tool to carefully cut through the sword’s tip. Water was continuously applied with a syringe during the cutting process to keep the metal cool and prevent heat from causing further damage to the wound.

The operation was eventually carried out successfully, bringing an anxious end to what had started as simple playtime. The incident also serves as a reminder that toys containing metal components can still pose serious risks when used improperly, particularly by children.
