12 Men Arrested After Armed Brawl In Kota Tinggi, Weapons Seized

Police have arrested 12 local men believed to be involved in a fight involving weapons in the Taman Kota Jaya area early today.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the district police control centre received information from members of the public about the incident at 1.57am.

“Following the information, a team of officers and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kota Tinggi district police headquarters managed to locate and arrest 12 men aged between 20 and 42.

“Police also seized 13 mobile phones, a 90cm-long wooden stick, a 71cm-long baseball bat and three vehicles,” he said in a statement today.

All 12 suspects, together with the seized items, were taken to the Kota Tinggi district police headquarters for further action and investigation.

Yusof said police were still tracking down other individuals believed to have been involved who had yet to be arrested.

“The operation to locate and arrest the remaining suspects is ongoing. The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to assist the investigation by contacting investigating officer Inspector Than Jia Jun at 016-9195285.
