A man has gone viral after he was allegedly seen deliberately falling onto a road as a car passed beneath a flyover near Lam Wah Ee Hospital in Jelutong today.
The incident was highlighted by Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong on Facebook after a 16-second dashcam recording of the incident went viral online.
In the footage, the man can be seen standing beside the flyover barrier before appearing to move into the path of an approaching vehicle.
According to Ong, the man was believed to have staged the incident in an attempt to claim compensation by alleging that he had been hit by the vehicle.
He urged motorists to remain alert and exercise caution if they encounter similar situations to avoid becoming victims of such incidents.
Ong said he had alerted Jelutong police station and the North-East District Police Headquarters after learning of the incident, in an effort to prevent any unwanted consequences, including accidents.
In a later update, Ong said police had informed him that the suspect had been arrested to assist with investigations.
He also thanked police for acting swiftly and successfully apprehending the man.
The viral footage has since prompted warnings for motorists to remain vigilant, particularly when driving in areas where pedestrians may suddenly enter the roadway.
