A 49-year-old local woman had a frightening encounter when two men on a motorcycle attempted to snatch her handbag before fleeing with a gold bracelet worth RM2,000 in Taman Cheras Perdana recently.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the victim was not injured in the incident, which occurred at around 11.15am while she was standing outside her home to answer a phone call.
He said police received a report regarding the robbery at around 3.44pm the following day.
“Two unidentified male suspects riding a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle approached the victim. One of them got off the motorcycle and tried to pull her handbag but failed.
“The suspect then snatched a gold bracelet worn on the victim’s left wrist before fleeing with his accomplice,” he said in a statement.
The incident has since attracted attention online after photographs and video footage believed to show the suspects were uploaded by a social media user on Threads.
Naazron said checks of nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that the suspects were wearing dark visors on their helmets. However, the motorcycle’s registration number could not be clearly identified.
Police are now working to identify and track down the two suspects as investigations continue under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
