Ronaldo 22 Goals Away From Historic 1,000-Goal Milestone

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo is edging closer to a landmark achievement in football, with the Portugal superstar now just 22 goals away from reaching 1,000 senior career goals.

Ronaldo currently has 978 goals to his name after scoring the winning goal as Al-Nassr came from behind to beat Al-Taawoun 2-1 in the Saudi Pro League recently.

The latest strike also saw Ronaldo break Al-Nassr’s all-time league scoring record. He has now scored 104 league goals in 110 appearances for the club, surpassing the previous record of 103 held by legendary Al-Nassr forward Mohammed Al-Sahlawi.

Despite reaching another personal milestone, Ronaldo was quick to credit his team-mates for helping him maintain his remarkable scoring consistency.

“I am very happy. It is a great achievement to become Al-Nassr’s top scorer, but this is not only Cristiano’s achievement.

“I have to thank my team-mates because without them, none of this would have been possible,” he said.

The 40-year-old forward also expressed his appreciation to Al-Nassr supporters, saying their continued backing had made the achievement even more meaningful.

“I really appreciate our fans. They are always behind me and I am very proud of their support. Thank you,” Ronaldo added.

Ronaldo has already cemented his place in the history books as international football’s all-time leading scorer, having netted 143 goals in 225 appearances for Portugal.

Now, the focus is firmly on the 1,000-goal mark — a figure that would represent one of the most extraordinary individual milestones in the history of the sport.

Ronaldo will have another opportunity to add to his tally when Al-Nassr face traditional rivals Al-Ittihad on September 5, as he looks to move another step closer to the historic four-figure mark.
