18-Year-Old Student Found Dead At Bottom Of Setapak Hostel Building

Date:

An 18-year-old student from a private college was found dead at a residential complex in Residensi Teratai, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday morning.

The student was discovered at the bottom of the building at around 7.07am, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Annas Sulaiman said police were alerted by a security guard at approximately 8.50am.

Initial investigations, including a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings, showed that the student had arrived at the residence at around 7.07am.

“The CCTV footage showed the victim at a corridor on the 22nd floor before the victim was later found at the bottom of the building on the sixth-floor level,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Police checks found that the deceased was a first-semester student at a private college, with the residence serving as the college hostel where the student had been staying.

A medical officer from Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) pronounced the student dead at the scene.

Police have classified the case as sudden death (SDR), while further investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
