Zahid Tells ‘Guru’ To Listen To The People: ‘Enough Is Enough’

Date:

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has taken aim at a leader he accused of ignoring the grievances and concerns of the people, repeatedly urging him to listen to their voices.

Although Zahid did not name the leader, he referred to him as “guru”, or teacher, in his policy speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly.

“Enough is enough, Guru! Listen to our voices, Guru! Listen to the voice of the people, oh Guru! Enough is enough! God willing, we can do better than what Guru has done,” he said.

Zahid stressed that his remarks were not intended to inflame or provoke the situation, saying the government should not fuel public concerns or create unnecessary anxiety and confusion.

“I am not trying to inflame or provoke anything, but we do not want to fuel the people’s concerns.

“We do not want to create anxiety, let alone endless confusion,” he said.

Zahid’s reference to “guru” is believed to be directed at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The term was previously used by Zahid when referring to Anwar during a leaked telephone conversation between the two in April 2021.
