Those were among the words shared in tribute to the Flying Doctors team, who dedicated themselves to providing medical care to communities in remote parts of Sarawak.
In a Facebook post, Irene Philip shared footage of the team carrying out their duties and providing treatment to residents in remote areas.
“Your service to the rural community will always be remembered. Thank you for bringing healthcare, medicines and hope to our people,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the video.
The footage also showed one of the victims, Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, carrying out her duties as usual, including examining an elderly patient.
The post drew an outpouring of grief, with many social media users describing the team’s dedication as an invaluable service that would not be forgotten.
“So heartbreaking to watch this video… Al-Fatihah for Dr Ainul and Captain Zainol. My condolences to the families of medical assistant Alexson, nurses Debra and Jessie,” wrote Miea.
“Envious that their departure has left behind so many good and noble deeds. All of us are praying for these heroes and heroines. I hope my own ending will be like theirs. Al-Fatihah and condolences,” said Mahathir.
“People in the interior must surely feel the loss of their doctor deeply,” Jessica commented.
Earlier, Kosmo! Online reported that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including its pilot, crashed near Long Lellang Airport in Ulu Baram, Marudi, Sarawak, last Tuesday.
The victims were pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30; medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah; medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, 31; and nurses Debra Moset, 40, and Jessie Paya Jok, 44.
