Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in several areas across Malaysia until 6pm today (Sept 16), according to the latest weather warning.
The affected areas include parts of Perak, namely Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang, Perak Tengah, Kuala Kangsar and Hulu Perak.
In Kelantan, the warning covers Gua Musang, Jeli, Kuala Krai, Machang and Pasir Puteh, while Terengganu is also affected.
Several districts in Pahang are included, namely Cameron Highlands, Lipis and Raub, while the affected areas in Johor are Kluang, Kulai and Kota Tinggi.
In Sarawak, the warning covers Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Sibu, Kapit, including Song and Kapit, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Kuching, Samarahan, Betong, Serian and Limbang.
In Sabah, affected areas include parts of the Interior, Tawau, Sandakan, the West Coast and Kudat. The warning also covers W.P. Labuan.
The warning comes into effect when conditions indicate that thunderstorms producing rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour are occurring or are expected to occur for more than an hour.
The Meteorological Department said thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, with each warning valid for no more than six hours from the time it is issued.
