Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh has denied signing a viral document allegedly ordering former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
In a social media post early on Friday, Hannah said the document was fake and confirmed that the Pardons Board had yet to meet to discuss the matter.
“I have never signed a house arrest order as is currently being circulated on social media.
“The Pardons Board has yet to convene. Please do not circulate this fake document. My press secretary has lodged a report with the authorities,” she said.
Her post included a screenshot showing that a complaint had been submitted through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) portal under reference number OC260917-00134.
The document, which had circulated widely online, purportedly claimed that the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya had agreed to grant Najib a pardon and allow him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
It also displayed what appeared to be a royal seal and claimed that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, who chairs the Pardons Board, had ordered Najib to serve the rest of his sentence at his residence under house arrest.
