Police have yet to receive any claims from individuals or family members seeking to identify the unidentified man whose body was found in an aircraft’s wheel compartment at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 in Sepang on Aug 27.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said there was still no information that could confirm the man’s identity.
“So far, no one has come forward with information. If there are family members who have not returned home or have been reported missing, they can contact the nearest police station so we can complete our investigation.
“The identity of the body has also yet to be determined,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Wednesday.
Shazeli said police were still investigating how and why the man ended up inside the aircraft.
He added that such an incident was not unprecedented, as similar cases involving individuals found in aircraft wheel compartments had occurred before.
“This is not the first case. Something similar has happened before, where individuals were found in the wheel compartment.
“I do not want to draw any conclusions as I am concerned that we may be wrong. We will wait for the outcome of the investigation,” he said.
Previously, KLIA district police chief Assistant Commissioner M Ravi reportedly said the case had been classified as sudden death (SDR).
Members of the public who have family members or acquaintances reported missing or who have been unreachable since Aug 19, particularly those believed to have been in or around KLIA, are urged to come forward at the nearest police station.
