A former Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) teacher was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrates’ Court today after pleading guilty to causing injury to a pupil by kicking him in the face in 2024.
Abdullah Mustakim, 33, entered the guilty plea after the charge was read before Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid.
According to the charge, Abdullah had intentionally injured the 13-year-old boy by kicking him in the face with his right foot inside the Year Five Usaha classroom at a primary school at about 2.30pm on Oct 23, 2024.
The charge was brought under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum one-year prison sentence, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mazlinda Mohd Nor prosecuted the case, while Abdullah was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Farazaliza Fauzi.
The court imposed a RM2,000 fine, with a four-month jail term in default of payment. Abdullah paid the fine.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim told his mother at about 5.15pm on the same day that Abdullah had kicked him in the face during a KAFA class, causing an injury to his gums.
Abdullah subsequently took the boy to a clinic for treatment following the incident.
