A motorcyclist in his 20s was killed after crashing into a lorry at Simpang Tiga Ulu Yam in Hulu Selangor on Tuesday.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent M Manimaran said police received information about the fatal accident at about 5.30pm.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling from Batang Kali towards Serendah at about 5pm when the crash occurred.
“When the victim reached Simpang Tiga Ulu Yam, a lorry travelling from the opposite direction turned left into a junction.
“Due to the short distance, the motorcyclist was unable to avoid the lorry and collided with its left side before falling and being run over by the heavy vehicle,” he said in a statement.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem. The lorry driver, who is in his 60s, was uninjured.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
