A Form Two male student at a sports school in Kuala Pilah died after he was found unconscious at the school hostel on Friday night.
The student was taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN), where he was later pronounced dead.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin confirmed the incident and said the case was still under investigation.
“The post-mortem examination will be conducted at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital (HTJ), Seremban,” he said.
The incident came to public attention after a social media post claimed that the student had died after being assaulted at the school hostel.
However, the allegation that the student had been beaten has not been verified, with police still investigating to determine the actual cause of death.
The claim also drew the attention of former Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin, who urged the authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation in the interest of justice for the student and his family.
“My condolences to the entire family of the deceased,” he said in a post on Threads on Saturday.
