DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has rejected allegations that the party would engage in political “backstabbing”, saying DAP has always upheld the principles of constitutional monarchy.
Loke was responding to PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, whom he accused of diverting attention from the main issue surrounding the ongoing political dispute in Negeri Sembilan.
“Brother Fadhli, don’t change the goalposts. The main issue here is that the 10 state executive councillors took their oath of loyalty before the Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, on August 7.
“They then decided to affirm the Proclamation to Remove the Ruler on September 16, 2026.
“If they did not recognise the position of the Ruler, why were they willing to take the oath of loyalty after the state election to form the state government?” he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
Earlier, Fadhli questioned whether Loke would accept a situation in another state where executive councillors were removed from office by a ruler without the approval of the executive government.
He said rules and constitutional provisions should be interpreted consistently, rather than being applied differently depending on the political circumstances in Negeri Sembilan or whether DAP supported the state government.
Responding to the criticism, Loke said DAP would not engage in such conduct under any circumstances.
“This is an act of backstabbing. DAP has never done such a thing. DAP will always uphold the principles of constitutional monarchy,” he said.
