Primary School Teacher Accused Of Filming More Than 350 Children With Hidden Toilet Cameras

Date:

An Australian primary school teacher has been accused of secretly filming more than 350 children using spy cameras allegedly concealed inside toilet air fresheners at a school in Melbourne.

Timothy Blamires, 33, allegedly carried out the recordings over a six-month period at Kingswood Primary School. The case came to light on April 28 after a cleaner discovered a hidden camera while replacing a fragrance dispenser in the boys’ toilets.

According to court documents, Blamires allegedly filmed more than 34 children on October 13, 2025, before recording over 188 pupils just a week later. Another 60 children were allegedly filmed on October 22, followed by more than 74 on March 30 this year.

The camera was reportedly connected by a wire to a hard drive. After the device was discovered, it was placed in a plastic bag on the headteacher’s desk before police were called.

However, Blamires allegedly took the camera and hid it inside a drawer in the school’s sick bay while officers were on their way, before returning to teach his class.

Following his arrest, police allegedly found the fragrance dispenser inside his backpack at the school. Officers also seized laptops, mobile phones and tablets from his home as part of the investigation.

Blamires faces 16 charges, including six counts of installing a spy camera, five counts of producing child abuse material and four counts of possessing such material. He is also accused of refusing to provide access codes to his electronic devices when ordered by police.

He was denied bail in May after a magistrate ruled that the risks he posed could not be reduced to an acceptable level. The court also raised concerns about the difficulty of enforcing restrictions on his internet access if he were released.

Blamires appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday for a brief hearing, during which charge sheets reportedly revealed further details of the allegations. His case was adjourned until November 20.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
