Masked Man Covers Entire Row Of Lift Buttons With Black Paint In KL PPR Block

Date:

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has exposed an act of vandalism at a People’s Housing Project (PPR) apartment block after a man was caught on CCTV spraying black paint over an entire row of lift buttons.

In a video shared on DBKL’s Facebook page, the man was seen entering the lift with his head wrapped in clothing and his head lowered, seemingly attempting to avoid the CCTV cameras. He was also holding a can of spray paint.

Once the lift doors closed, he repeatedly sprayed black paint over the buttons until the entire panel was covered. He then walked away when the doors opened.

His actions, including keeping his head down and turning his back to the CCTV camera, appeared to suggest that the vandalism was deliberate.

DBKL expressed disappointment over the incident, saying public facilities meant to provide convenience and comfort had instead been damaged.

The local authority said the damage affected the living environment and created additional cleaning and repair costs. The money spent on restoring the lift could otherwise have been used to address other, more urgent needs.

“The damage is not limited to the facilities themselves. The entire community is affected, including every resident who uses these facilities daily,” DBKL said.

It urged residents to help protect public facilities, report and prevent acts of vandalism, and foster a stronger sense of responsibility, particularly among younger generations.

The video sparked anger among social media users, with many condemning the man’s actions and calling on the authorities to identify him and impose appropriate punishment for damaging public property.
