A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping his 13-year-old biological daughter at a village in Ranau, Sabah.
The suspect was arrested on Monday following a police report lodged by the victim’s aunt.
Ranau district police chief Superintendent Mursalin Mahmud said police received a complaint from a woman alleging that her niece had been raped by her own father.
“ The incident is believed to have occurred at around 2am on September 20, when the suspect entered the victim’s bedroom and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim lived with her biological father and stepmother. The alleged incident took place while the stepmother was out of the district, Mursalin added.
The suspect has been detained for further investigation under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
