A couple has drawn widespread criticism online after allegedly treating their child roughly during a dispute over who should sit in a stroller.
A video circulating on Threads showed the parents behaving aggressively towards one of their children, prompting netizens to condemn their actions as excessive.
“Even if you’re angry, don’t resort to kicking. Was the child’s mistake really so serious that they deserved to be treated like that?” read the post.
The identities of the couple, as well as the exact location and date of the incident, have yet to be established.
A review of the comments revealed widespread anger, with many questioning whether such harsh treatment was justified over what appeared to be a minor disagreement.
Siti Nazurah said she felt sorry for the child, while suggesting that the parents might have lost their patience.
“I don’t know. Watching it again, I feel sorry for the child. But who knows, perhaps the child was overly active, or maybe the parents are young and lost their patience,” she commented.
Another user, Eima Hani, said she understood how challenging it could be to deal with misbehaving children but stressed that both parents should not lose their temper at the same time.
“Poor child. I understand the emotions involved when a child is very naughty, but both parents shouldn’t lose their tempers. The child must feel left out. At least one of them should speak calmly,” she wrote.
Jeffri, meanwhile, said he had never treated his four children that way, even when angry.
“I have four children and have never acted like that when I’m angry. At most, I just give them a glare, and they immediately get the message,” he commented.
