A wedding gift box from Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and entertainer Bella’s wedding has reportedly appeared for sale online at RM350, leaving netizens stunned.
A screenshot circulating on social media in recent days showed a wedding favour box featuring the couple’s photographs and names listed on an online marketplace.
The box, which was given out as a complimentary wedding souvenir, features a vintage luxury design and a romantic photograph of the newlyweds, making it a keepsake from their special day.
However, the listing has sparked debate over whether reselling a wedding gift is appropriate.
Some netizens felt that wedding favours represented the couple’s appreciation for their guests, arguing that selling them could be seen as disrespectful to the newlyweds and the thought they had put into preparing the gifts.
Others questioned whether the seller was attempting to cash in on the popularity of Syed Saddiq and Bella by exploiting the attention surrounding their wedding.
However, some netizens urged caution, suggesting that the listing could potentially be a scam designed to lure buyers into handing over money.
They reminded the public to remain vigilant when making online purchases and avoid transferring money without verifying the seller and the item’s authenticity.
Following the online discussion, a reporter attempted to trace the original listing but found that it had been taken down.
As a result, the authenticity of the listing and whether the item had actually been sold could not be independently verified.
