A woman has sparked widespread outrage after allegedly dancing half-naked outside a mosque in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, and broadcasting the incident live on TikTok.
The incident reportedly took place at the entrance of Mohammed al-Amin Mosque in central Beirut over the weekend.
The woman allegedly covered her head and the front of her body with a gold-coloured material before performing several dance moves, ignoring warnings from people who confronted her.
In a further shocking act, she reportedly urinated near the mosque’s entrance, prompting angry reactions from social media users.
Authorities were said to have rushed to the scene after receiving public complaints and subsequently detained the woman.
However, her identity has yet to be officially established, as she reportedly had no identification documents in her possession.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the incident, which has been widely condemned for offending Muslim sensibilities.
