Chemor Tragedy: 28-Year-Old Woman Found Dead With Strangulation Marks

Date:

Police have confirmed the discovery of strangulation marks on the neck of a woman found dead at a house in Kampung Kuala Kuang, Chemor, on Monday.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said an initial examination of the 28-year-old victim’s body revealed no other injuries.

Her 37-year-old husband, a Myanmar national, has since been arrested and is believed to be the main suspect in the case.

“Preliminary investigations found that the incident, which occurred around 12.40pm, stemmed from a quarrel between the couple. The suspect was reportedly unhappy as he was often scolded by his wife,” he told reporters.

The incident came to light when the victim’s friend discovered her unconscious and alerted the police for assistance.

Authorities later arrested the husband at the scene at about 3.40pm on the same day. Police will seek a remand order to facilitate further investigations.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” Abang Zainal Abidin added.

The case was earlier reported by Sinar Harian, which highlighted the suspected murder of a Myanmar woman at her rented home in Kampung Kuala Kuang, Chemor.
