Heavy rain since Tuesday night triggered flash floods along several major routes around Shah Alam, forcing road closures on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) early Wednesday.
According to updates posted by PLUS Malaysia Berhad on X, flooding was reported at KM9.1 of the NKVE, between Shah Alam and Subang, at 4.07am.
Floodwaters blocked all lanes in both directions, forcing traffic from Bukit Raja heading north to be diverted towards Setia Alam.
Motorists travelling from Subang towards the south were redirected to the ELITE highway.
Earlier, at 3.20am, PLUS announced that all lanes before the Shah Alam Toll Plaza had been closed due to flash floods, advising motorists to use alternative routes.
At 5.30am, the highway operator reported the closure of all lanes at the Shah Alam Interchange on the ELITE, along the stretch between Seafield and Setia Alam.
Traffic from Seafield heading towards Shah Alam was temporarily diverted to the Shah Alam Toll Plaza.
Meanwhile, PROLINTAS GCE said on X that flash floods had occurred at the NKVE interchange at 5.42am.
The highway operator confirmed that Ramps B, C and D were completely closed following the incident.
Motorists have been advised to follow instructions from traffic personnel and use the designated alternative routes.
Separately, a post on Threads claimed that a bridge near Jalan Gajah 16, along the route towards Paya Jaras, had been damaged, making the road impassable in both directions. The claim has not been independently verified.
