Police in Kelantan recently intervened in a private gathering involving over 100 men at a rented bungalow in Kemumin, Pengkalan Chepa, following a public tip-off regarding a closed-door event in mid-June.
According to Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, a special task force was set up to investigate the claims. Officers conducted a raid at around 1am, during which over 20 individuals were still present at the scene.
While no illicit activity was observed during the operation, authorities reportedly found items such as condoms and HIV medication, which they believe indicated potential preparation for sexual activities. Police also said three attendees were found with pornographic content on their mobile phones and were charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code for possession of obscene material.
The participants, aged between 20 and 30, were all Malaysian and came from various professional backgrounds. One individual reportedly admitted to offering sexual services and tested positive for HIV.
“This is the first such gathering discovered in the state, and we are still assessing the scope of the group’s activities,” said Mohd Yusoff, adding that the event appeared to have been promoted through social media platforms.
All individuals present were reportedly fully clothed, and the police noted that they appeared “manly” in appearance. The authorities emphasized that they will continue to monitor similar gatherings that could raise public concern or contravene local laws and social norms.
