A brief moment of tension arose during today’s Persidangan Dewan Rakyat when Hulu Terengganu MP, Datuk Rosol Wahid, interrupted Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Seri Tiong King Sing’s explanation regarding the recent alcohol controversy, saying he could not understand what language the minister was using.
Rosol interjected midway through Tiong’s clarification, remarking that he was struggling to comprehend the minister’s speech.
In response, Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat II YB Puan Alice Lau Kiong Yieng firmly told the Hulu Terengganu MP that if he could not understand, he was free to leave the hall — a statement that drew mixed reactions from Members of Parliament present.
Tiong was addressing allegations that alcoholic beverages were served during a dinner event with international tourism players, which he clarified was not an official government function. He expressed regret over the misunderstanding, saying his ministry took public feedback seriously.
The session continued shortly after the exchange, but clips of the interaction have since circulated widely online, drawing comments from viewers about the tone and decorum in Parliament.
