Actor Aniq Suhair, 25, believes the high expectations held by some women today could be one of the reasons more men are choosing to remain single instead of settling down.
According to Aniq, men aged 25 and above who are only starting their careers may struggle to meet such expectations, particularly when they are still working to establish themselves financially.
“One of the reasons many men today remain single is because some women have become too demanding.
“Women do not necessarily have to be that way. In a relationship, both sides should be willing to compromise and accept each other for who they are.
“However, if those are the standards they have set, perhaps they should look for a partner who is capable of meeting them and becoming their husband,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
Commenting on producer Datuk A. Aida’s reported decision to set RM10 million as the marriage dowry for her daughter, Azeva, Aniq said he viewed the figure as a form of rejection rather than an actual expectation.
“I understand that A. Aida is setting a very high standard for her daughter by putting RM10 million as the marriage gift. In other words, I see it as a way of saying she is not ready to let Azeva go,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking about the upcoming film Bisikan Nafsu, which stars Aniq alongside Azeva, he stressed that the production team did not rely on cheap publicity stunts to promote the movie.
“We do not need to create gimmicks such as pretending to be romantically involved on set. But if audiences feel that we have good chemistry when paired together, Alhamdulillah. I see that as part of the film’s marketing.
“At the same time, if viewers pray that we will end up together, we are still grateful. Marriage is ultimately determined by God,” he said.
Bisikan Nafsu, which also stars Zul Huzaimy, Aleza Shadan, Watie Sadali and others, is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide from October 1.
