Father Arrested in Seoul After Brutally Beating 11-Year-Old Daughter in Public

Date:

A Taiwanese man in his 30s sparked outrage after publicly assaulting his 11-year-old daughter on the streets of Seoul during a family trip over the Mid-Autumn holiday. According to reports from Korean media MBN, the incident occurred on October 5 at around 12:50 PM local time in a small alley in the Mapo district.

The father, identified as Mr. A, reportedly got into an argument with his daughter over travel plans. In a shocking escalation, he repeatedly struck her in the face, knocked her to the ground, and even grabbed her by the neck. The child cried loudly, with swollen cheeks and visible marks on her neck.

Bystanders called the police, who promptly arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of child abuse. However, since the daughter declined to press charges, Mr. A was released. Authorities plan to forward the case to the prosecutor’s office for further action under child protection laws.

Witnesses expressed disbelief at the severity of the assault, noting that it initially appeared to be a random act of violence rather than a family dispute.

The incident has drawn attention amid rising anti-Chinese sentiment in South Korea. Some Korean netizens commented under news articles, saying, “Why are people from China and Taiwan causing trouble in our country?” and “Regardless of whether they are Taiwanese or Chinese, we can’t let them do this here.”
