Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently completed his annual health examination, with White House doctors reporting that his “overall health is excellent” and that his heart age is 14 years younger than his chronological age. At 79, Trump is the oldest U.S. president to assume office and the second-oldest while in office.
According to Reuters, Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, stated in a memorandum that Trump demonstrates “robust cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function.” He also received preventive health screenings and vaccinations, including the flu shot and the latest COVID-19 booster, in preparation for an upcoming trip to the Middle East.
The report noted that Trump’s “heart age,” measured by cardiovascular fitness via ECG, is about 14 years younger than his actual age. Doctors assessed that he is in good health, energetic, and capable of handling high-intensity schedules and official duties.
Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for his routine exam, marking his second comprehensive check-up within six months. In April, his previous report indicated he stands 190 cm tall, weighs 102 kg, maintains well-controlled cholesterol, and is in “extremely stable” health. The report even highlighted that his golfing skills remain strong.
Earlier this year, in July, concerns were raised over minor swelling in Trump’s calves and bruising on his hands. Dr. Barbabella explained that the swelling was due to chronic venous insufficiency, a common benign condition in people over 70, while the bruising resulted from frequent handshakes and aspirin use, with no serious health implications.
Trump’s health has long been under public scrutiny. Following former President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election due to health concerns, Trump has emphasized his “energetic and fit” image for his campaign. The White House affirmed that Trump is currently in stable health and ready for demanding travel and official engagements.
