Miss Universe Mexico Walks Out After Being Called Dumb By Director During Livestream

Date:

Raul Rocha, president of the Miss Universe Organization, released a video on Wednesday (Nov 5) criticizing Nawat Itsaragrisil, director of Miss Universe Thailand, for publicly reprimanding contestants during a livestream on Tuesday.

During the livestream, Itsaragrisil questioned Fatima Bosch, Miss Universe Mexico, about not posting promotional materials for Thailand, reportedly following instructions from her national director. Bosch explained it was a misunderstanding, but Itsaragrisil interrupted, demanding compliance and calling her “a dumb head” if she followed her director. When Bosch challenged his behavior, he summoned security, prompting other contestants, including Miss Universe Canada, Armenia, and Palestine, to walk out in protest. Bosch later described the incident as “disrespectful” and emphasized the importance of dignity and empowerment.

In response, Rocha announced he is limiting or removing Itsaragrisil’s involvement in this year’s Miss Universe events. He also sent a delegation of executives and diplomatic experts to Thailand to oversee the pageant, stating, “I trusted Miss Grand International with the event, and that trust has failed.”

Annika Sager, Miss Universe Singapore 2025, echoed concerns on Instagram, calling for respect and empowerment for contestants.

Miss Universe 2025 is scheduled for Nov 21.
