Single Mom Sends Kids Away, Partner Found in Bedroom During Midnight Raid

Date:

In Johor, a single mother in her 40s was caught after allegedly arranging to spend the night with her partner while sending her two teenage children back to their grandparents for the weekend. The raid was conducted midnight yesterday by the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) following complaints from neighbors.

During the inspection, authorities found a 50-year-old widower at the home. JAINJ stated that the couple’s activities had reportedly been ongoing for some time, but villagers had previously refrained from reporting them, preferring to advise the woman directly. When the couple ignored the advice, the neighbors lodged a formal complaint.

According to the JAINJ statement, enforcement officers knocked on the door and were let in by the woman. The home was dark, and she was instructed to turn on the lights. Officers found the man sitting on the sofa in the living room. The couple claimed he was there just to eat instant noodles, a justification the authorities dismissed.

The officers also checked the rooms normally occupied by the woman’s children, which were empty at the time, and found the master bedroom in disarray. Villagers reported that the woman would routinely ask her partner to visit while sending her children elsewhere once or twice a week.

Both individuals were detained under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997 for suspected khalwat (close proximity between unmarried couples) and were taken to the police station for further action.
