Beloved Hotel Cat Oyen Passes Away, Leaves Pawprint On Guests’ Hearts

A beloved orange cat known as Oyen, who became a familiar and well-loved figure at a hotel in Sarawak, has passed away, leaving staff and guests saddened by the loss.

The Waterfront Hotel announced the news via its official TikTok page, with staff paying tribute to the feline that had been part of the hotel family since its early days.

In the post, the hotel described Oyen as more than just a stray cat, saying he brought joy, comfort and smiles to both guests and employees throughout his time there.

“We are saddened to announce the passing of Oyen, our beloved hotel cat,” the statement read, adding that he was a cherished part of the hotel’s story.

Oyen had gained popularity online over the years after appearing in numerous photos and videos shared by guests and visitors at the hotel.

Many netizens affectionately dubbed him the hotel’s “security guard” due to his habit of sitting near entrances, observing guests and casually roaming the lobby area.

Some visitors even said meeting Oyen had become a memorable part of their stay, with the cat becoming a small but iconic attraction at the hotel.

The hotel also thanked Oyen for the memories he created, noting that he would always remain part of its history and the hearts of those who met him.
