Grandchildren’s Birth Certificate Numbers Land Retiree RM11.8mil Jackpot

Date:

A 62-year-old retired salesman from Perak has struck a life-changing windfall after winning RM11.8mil in the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 draw, following decades of consistent betting.

The man, who reportedly placed modest wagers of RM10 to RM20 per draw for the past 30 years, walked away with RM11,806,469.85 from the RM12mil jackpot on May 31.

His winning numbers, 1660 and 5093, were derived from the birth certificate numbers of his two grandchildren, whom he said have always been a source of joy to the family.

The retiree admitted he was stunned when he realised he had won, repeatedly checking the results before confirming the news with his family.

“I never imagined persistence over so many years would lead to something like this,” he said, adding that he was initially speechless upon discovering his win.

He plans to manage the winnings carefully, prioritising his family’s welfare and securing a stable future for his grandchildren.

Meanwhile, the remaining RM195,148.20 from the same jackpot pool was claimed by a Kuala Lumpur ticket holder who used an i-System entry.

In a separate draw, a 65-year-old retired construction worker from Penang also became a millionaire after winning RM3.5mil in the Star Toto 6/50 Jackpot 1.

The winner said he had been a long-time Sports Toto player, consistently spending RM10 on Lucky Pick tickets in hopes of a big win.

His winning combination of 3, 8, 11, 25, 38 and 42 secured him RM3,499,722.25 in the June 10 draw.

He said checking results via the Sports Toto mobile app had become part of his nightly routine, but he initially struggled to believe he had actually won.

“I woke my wife up to verify the ticket because I thought I was seeing things,” he said.

The retiree added that the prize would provide financial security for his retirement years, with plans to place the money in fixed deposits and live off the interest.
