A woman is offering a RM500 reward to anyone who can help locate her missing pet cat, ‘Oci’, which has been missing for over a month. The case has drawn attention online, reflecting the deep emotional bond many pet owners share with their animals.
K Devika, 35, said she owns 18 cats, most of which are rescued strays, including Oci who has been under her care for the past six years. She explained that all her cats are usually kept indoors at her home in Laman Sendayan.
According to Devika, Oci went missing shortly after pest control services were carried out at her house. During the spraying process, several cats, including Oci, were temporarily placed outside to allow the work to proceed smoothly.
However, after the spraying was completed, Oci could no longer be found. Devika believes the strong scent from the chemicals may have affected the cat’s sense of direction, preventing it from recognising its way back home.
She shared that she has spent days searching around her housing area and neighbouring neighbourhoods, in addition to distributing posters, but her efforts have yet to yield results. Despite receiving two tips from individuals who claimed to have spotted a similar-looking cat, both turned out not to be Oci.
Devika said she remains determined to find her beloved pet, whom she considers like her own child. After losing her husband last year due to heart disease and having no children, her cats have become her primary source of companionship and emotional support.
She is now appealing to the public for assistance and hopes that anyone who finds Oci safe will come forward and contact her at 017-2792681.
