A learner driver has gone viral after claiming he walked out of a driving lesson halfway through after his instructor allegedly became verbally abusive and even punched the car’s dashboard in frustration.
The incident was shared on social media, where the learner described his instructor as short-tempered and prone to shouting whenever he made mistakes instead of offering proper guidance.
According to the post, the instructor would often snap at him with remarks such as, “How can you not know this?” whenever he made an error behind the wheel.
“The only thing he did whenever I got something wrong was snort like a dragon or yell at me. There was little to no guidance at all,” the learner wrote.
He also alleged that the instructor’s temper escalated during one lesson, with the man becoming so angry that he punched the vehicle’s dashboard.
Unable to tolerate the situation any longer, the learner said he stopped the car, pulled the handbrake, got out and left the instructor sitting alone inside the vehicle while motorists behind them sounded their horns.
“I signed up to learn, and your job is to teach. But you’re acting like you’re from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), judging people instead of helping them,” he wrote.
Following the incident, the learner lodged a complaint with the driving school and requested a refund, saying he wanted to transfer to another driving school.
According to him, the instructor later apologised and offered him three complimentary driving lessons in an attempt to resolve the matter.
Despite the apology, the learner said he had no issue with instructors correcting or reprimanding students when necessary. However, he felt that shouting, using harsh language and punching the dashboard crossed the line.
His story quickly attracted attention online, with many netizens sharing similar experiences involving driving instructors.
One woman claimed she had been sexually harassed by her driving instructor and reported him to the driving school. When she returned the following week, she was told the instructor had been dismissed.
Another netizen recalled that his instructor once asked him to stop at a roadside stall selling fried banana fritters during a lesson and even expected him to pay for the snacks.
