‘Let The Law Do Its Job’: Police Urge Public Not To Protest Over Rocky Dog Death Case

Date:

The public has been urged not to hold any gatherings or demonstrations over the death of a dog named Rocky, whose case is scheduled to come before the Klang Court tomorrow.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said members of the public should place their trust in the authorities and allow the legal process to take its course following the completion of investigations.

“I advise against making this issue bigger by organising gatherings or demonstrations.

“From a legal perspective, the investigation has been completed and we have identified the parties responsible,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today.

Shazeli said the Selangor Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) remained committed to conducting a fair and impartial investigation.

“The investigation has resulted in instructions for charges to be brought tomorrow. This shows that we are not taking sides.

“Whenever there is a violation of the law, we will investigate and take action in accordance with the law,” he said.

He urged the public to give the legal process sufficient space to carry out its responsibilities and avoid creating any disturbances.

Shazeli also said police would maintain security and public order around the court premises during the proceedings.

“The police always maintain security at the court. I believe the Klang Selatan district police chief will also take the necessary measures tomorrow.

“Therefore, members of the public who attend should do so peacefully and in an orderly manner. There is no need to disrupt public order. Let the law do its job,” he said.

However, Shazeli said members of the public who wished to attend the proceedings were welcome to do so, provided they maintained public order and complied with police instructions.
