Malaysia Passport Climbs To 6th In 2026 Global Ranking

Date:

Malaysia’s passport has climbed to sixth place in the 2026 Henley Passport Global Ranking, a significant improvement from 12th position last year, reinforcing its status among the world’s most powerful travel documents.

The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) said the rise reflects increasing international confidence in the Malaysian passport, as well as the country’s strengthened diplomatic relationships across the globe.

In a statement, JIM said: “Malaysia’s rise to sixth place in the 2026 Henley Passport Global Ranking reflects the growing international recognition and trust towards the Malaysian passport.”

The department added that the improved ranking would translate into greater global mobility for Malaysians, making it easier for citizens to travel to more destinations without restrictive visa requirements.

JIM also noted that the achievement is a reflection of Malaysia’s strong diplomatic engagement with the international community, describing it as a source of national pride.
