Mother’s DIY ‘Nike’ Bag Goes Viral—Now Nike Is Sending Her A Real Gift

Date:

As children, we often take our mothers’ love and sacrifices for granted—until adulthood reveals how priceless those gestures truly are. A moving story from Shaanxi, China, has gone viral after a young man shared a childhood memory of his mother’s devotion, even catching the eye of Nike itself.

A Childhood Memory Turns Priceless
Liu, who goes by Bai Xiaosa Ge online, recalled how at 14 he longed for a branded school bag. In 2016, after his family faced financial hardship, his mother couldn’t afford one. Instead, she stayed up late the night before school reopened, carefully hand-stitching a Nike logo onto his ordinary bag to surprise him.

At first, Liu was thrilled to bring it to school. But classmates soon mocked the “fake” Nike bag, leaving him ashamed. Within a week he stopped using it and hid it away—only to rediscover it years later with a new appreciation. Now 22, Liu says he regrets how he reacted to his mother’s gesture, calling it “the most priceless gift in the world.”

Nike Steps In With A Special Gift
The heartfelt video has amassed over eight million likes on Chinese social media. Nike China responded in the comments: “The stitching is amazing. A mother’s love gives us the courage to do anything. We’ve prepared a gift for your mom—please DM us. Just Do It!”

Nike later confirmed it is sending a special gift set to Liu’s mother. Liu posted screenshots of his messages with Nike, thanking them as netizens flooded the comments with support and praise, calling the story a reminder of mothers’ quiet, selfless sacrifices.
