Datuk Vida’s 727 Luxury Items Auctioned for RM1 Million After Payment Dispute

Date:

A total of 727 items belonging to cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, popularly known as Datuk Vida, were successfully auctioned today for RM1 million.

The auction was announced by licensed auctioneer S. Punithawathi at 1:40pm, after proceedings began at 10:30am at Vida’s luxury bungalow on Persiaran Bukit Meru, Meru Heights. Punithawathi said the auction involved two bidders but was ultimately won by Norzamri Abdullah, also an entrepreneur, after the other bidder withdrew, deeming the offer “unsuitable.”

“All items listed in the sale declaration will be sold for RM1 million,” Punithawathi confirmed.

The 727 items included three luxury vehicles—a Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Grand Hi-Ace, and BMW X7—as well as household furniture, electrical appliances, and home décor such as flower vases. Furniture on the list included sofas, dining tables, cabinets, dressing tables, coffee tables, and glass cabinets, while electrical items included air conditioners, water filters, refrigerators, ovens, toasters, and video game consoles.

The auction was attended by the plaintiff, Mohamad Taufik Kamarul Bari, a subcontractor, along with his lawyer Samir Zainal Zainal. Vida and her family were not present and were represented by legal counsel.

The auction had been delayed since December 2024. The sale was ordered by creditor AH Design Communication Sdn Bhd after Vida failed to settle her outstanding payments to the company and her request to postpone the auction for nearly a year was denied.
