Sarawak’s first IKEA store will officially open at Pines Mall in Batu Kawa on November 27, offering around 5,000 home furnishing products at the same prices as those in Peninsular Malaysia.
IKEA Malaysia country retail director Takeshi Murai said the opening of IKEA Kuching marked an important step in bringing the company closer to more customers by offering practical and affordable home furnishing ideas and solutions.
He said customers in Sarawak would pay the same prices for IKEA products and services as those in Peninsular Malaysia, without additional price premiums for East Malaysia.
“This is especially important for the people of Sarawak, as IKEA Kuching will offer the same prices for IKEA products and services as in Peninsular Malaysia, reinforcing our commitment to making quality home furnishings more affordable and accessible to more people,” he said in a statement today.
Although more compact than IKEA’s larger stores elsewhere in Malaysia, IKEA Kuching will feature a wide range of products for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining areas, storage spaces and children’s rooms.
Customers will be able to purchase selected items to take home immediately, place orders for self-collection or opt for home delivery. Home planning services will also be available.
The product range will cover affordable everyday essentials as well as more comprehensive furnishing solutions for different areas of the home.
Popular IKEA products will also be available, including the SKOGSTA dining table, KALLAX shelving unit, POÄNG armchair, NIPÅSEN bench, BILLY bookcase and items from the 365+ range.
The shopping experience will also include grab-and-go IKEA food options, such as meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soft-serve ice cream.
To celebrate the opening, IKEA Kuching will host weekend activities from November 27 to 29. More details about the programmes and offers for IKEA Family members will be announced closer to the launch.
