A total of 179 Malaysians returned safely to Malaysia from Doha, Qatar early today under the government’s ongoing Operation to Evacuate Malaysians from the West Asia Conflict Zone. The evacuees were flown home on Qatar Airways flight QR852, marking the first Doha–Kuala Lumpur service since the airspace closure on February 28, 2026.
The group included 59 Malaysians who had been stranded abroad, alongside Malaysian residents in Qatar who had purchased their own tickets. In addition, the flight carried Filipino, Australian, and other nationals, who will take connecting flights to their home countries upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The aircraft touched down safely at 12.46am, according to flight-tracking records.
This follows the Malaysian government’s first successful evacuation earlier this week, bringing home 170 Malaysians from Jeddah, Madinah, Qatar, Syria, and Jordan via a special Malaysia Airlines flight. That flight, which departed Kuala Lumpur on March 10, returned on March 11 at 12.48pm. Among the passengers were five Thai nationals, one Indonesian, and one Moroccan, all family members of the Malaysians being evacuated.
The National Security Council (NSC), under the Prime Minister’s Department, coordinated the operation in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malaysian missions in Jeddah, Doha, and Amman.
Malaysian authorities on the ground facilitated transfers from various locations to the airports, ensuring that all affected citizens could safely board the flights home.
