An elderly woman who had been reported missing since yesterday was found drowned in a large drain in front of her home at Jalan Sanglang, near Kampung Pida 12 Lama, earlier today.
The 88-year-old victim’s body was discovered floating in the water before rescue personnel were alerted to retrieve her.
According to Jitra Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Senior Fire Superintendent Noor Azhar Tajudin, a team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene after receiving a call at 1:46 p.m.
“The team successfully brought the victim’s body to shore before handing it over to the police for further investigation,” he said.
