Cops Investigate Schoolyard Fight Involving Six To Ten Teenage Girls In Kedah

Date:

Police are working to identify six female students involved in a fight that left several of them with bruises on their bodies in an incident that took place in front of a school here on Wednesday.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said all students involved, aged between 13 and 16, were identified through viral videos circulating on social media.

“There are still others we need to identify. Based on the videos, we will call those involved to the police station to give their statements.

“We will assess whether there is a need to detain them, but for now no arrests or remand orders have been made,” he told reporters at the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters on Friday.

Based on the viral footage, Hanyan said a police report was lodged by the Bedong Police Station Chief on Thursday at 5.30pm.

He said the incident is believed to have occurred on Wednesday between 1pm and 2pm.

“During investigations, not all but two or three of the students involved were found to have visible injuries such as bruises.

“Following the initial report, we have identified between six and 10 female students believed to be involved in the incident,” he said.

He added that statements have been recorded to complete the investigation paper before it is referred to the deputy public prosecutor.

He also advised families involved in similar cases to immediately lodge police reports so that investigations can be carried out to resolve conflicts among students and prevent incidents from escalating further.

“The possible motive could be related to social media posts, teasing, and online insults. I would like to advise students to be careful with their use of social media and avoid posting offensive or hurtful remarks.

“Similarly, regarding viral videos, the public is urged not to speculate or leave negative comments touching on religion, race, or ethnicity,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray in a public place, which carries a penalty of up to six months’ imprisonment, a fine of RM1,000, or both upon conviction.
