A 15-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly attacking a security supervisor with a knife outside a mini market at Razak City Residensi in Cheras on Friday.
The violent incident left the 49-year-old victim with a slash wound on the left side of his stomach after the teenager reportedly became aggressive while under the influence of alcohol.
Cheras district police chief Rosdi Daud said the suspect was detained on the same day to assist with investigations.
According to preliminary investigations, the altercation began after the victim reprimanded the teenager for throwing alcohol cans around the area.
The suspect allegedly became enraged and suddenly swung a knife towards the security supervisor, causing injuries during the confrontation.
Police from the Salak South police station later moved swiftly to the scene and successfully arrested the teenager at around 10.45am.
Authorities also seized a knife believed to have been used during the attack.
Further checks revealed the teenager was not attending school and had no prior criminal record, raising concerns about youth behaviour and social issues involving underage drinking.
Police also confirmed that a urine screening test conducted on the suspect came back negative for drugs.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.
Rosdi said the teenager was remanded for one day on May 23 before later being released on police bail.
He added that the investigation papers would soon be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions.
