Epstein “Suicide Note” Unsealed By US Court Reveals New Details About Final Days

Date:

A note allegedly written by disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been made public for the first time after being unsealed by a US court, years after his death in 2019.

According to reports from The New York Times, the document contains a series of handwritten remarks in which Epstein appears to reject the findings of investigators. One line reportedly reads: “They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!”

The note also includes a reference to choosing one’s final moments, alongside a sarcastic remark about emotional reactions, ending with the phrase “NO FUN”, which is underlined, followed by “NOT WORTH IT!!”. It was reportedly unsigned.

The document is believed to have originated from Epstein’s first known suicide attempt in July 2019, just weeks before his death at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in New York on 10 August that year.

Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Authorities ruled his death a suicide by hanging, though the circumstances have continued to fuel widespread public scrutiny and speculation.

According to a report by the US Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General, Epstein had previously been discovered in a semiconscious state with injuries consistent with a suspected self-harm attempt. He had reportedly been placed under suicide watch earlier but was later removed from it.

The newly released note surfaced after a federal judge in New York approved the unsealing of related court records following a petition by The New York Times. The file had previously remained sealed for several years.

Epstein had been facing federal sex trafficking charges involving allegations dating back to the early 2000s, including accusations of abusing underage girls. He had pleaded not guilty prior to his death.

The release of the document forms part of ongoing court-ordered disclosures linked to Epstein’s wider network and case files, which have drawn continued public attention due to the high-profile individuals associated with him, though inclusion in the records does not imply wrongdoing.

The latest development is expected to further intensify scrutiny surrounding the circumstances of Epstein’s final days, as well as renewed debate over the handling of his detention and death.
