Female Performer Falls During High-Altitude “Flower Fairy” Act At China Mall

Date:

A dramatic incident unfolded at a shopping mall in Tongling, Anhui province, China, during a public performance over the May Day holiday on May 3, when a female performer portraying a “flower fairy” suddenly fell from a raised platform, alarming spectators.

According to reports from Chinese media, the performer was part of a high-altitude entertainment act at a Wanda Plaza outlet when the supporting pole she was attached to reportedly lost stability mid-performance. The structure then bent sharply, causing her to fall several metres to the ground.

Video footage circulating online showed the performer swaying on a tall, slender pole before it suddenly gave way, sending her crashing to the floor. Shocked onlookers could be heard reacting in disbelief, with some claiming the pole had snapped.

However, the mall management later issued a clarification, stating that the incident was not caused by a structural break. Instead, they explained that the performer’s movement exceeded the equipment’s balance range, causing her to descend safely but unexpectedly to the ground.

Officials further stressed that the performer was not seriously injured. They said she remained on the ground temporarily because she was still secured by safety equipment and required assistance from staff to remove the harness.

The incident has since sparked public discussion online about the safety standards of live performance installations, particularly those involving aerial or elevated acts during large public events.
