A man was injured while three others sustained minor injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded and overturned into a drain at Kampung Endap here on Tuesday morning.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, an emergency call regarding the incident was received at 10.52am, prompting a response team from the Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Station.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 11.11am, about 18 kilometres from the station, and found a vehicle believed to have lost control before landing upside down in a drain.
Three occupants, comprising two women and one man, managed to exit the vehicle on their own, while another male victim was found trapped inside.
Rescue personnel used specialised equipment to extricate the trapped victim through the driver’s side door before handing him over to ambulance personnel for further treatment.
The remaining three injured victims were transported by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team to Kota Samarahan Heart Centre for medical attention.
Police and the Civil Defence Force were also deployed to the scene to assist in managing the situation.
The operation was later declared over at 11.45am after the area was confirmed to be safe and under control.
