High-Performance Motorcycle Rider Killed In North-South Expressway Crash

Date:

A high-performance motorcycle rider was killed after he was believed to have been struck by a car at KM136 of the North-South Expressway (northbound), early Thursday morning.

Muar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the crash involving a QJMotor motorcycle and a Hyundai Sonata occurred at about 12.36am.

He said preliminary investigations found that the car, driven by a 30-year-old man travelling from Johor Bahru towards Tangkak, collided with the motorcyclist who was lying on the road after reportedly losing control and skidding earlier.

The victim, a 24-year-old local man working in the catering industry, suffered severe head injuries in the incident.

He was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Raiz Mukhliz said the car driver was not injured in the crash.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged witnesses who saw the incident to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the nearest police station or the Muar District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation Unit.
