A 29-year-old teacher at a religious school in Johor has been placed under a seven-day remand following allegations that he sexually assaulted two female students while carrying out disciplinary measures.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman at the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court, effective from today until December 1.
According to a police report lodged by the students, the alleged incidents occurred on separate occasions in 2023 and 2024. During the purported disciplinary sessions, the students were instructed to cover their eyes with a handkerchief. They were reportedly told it was a form of punishment for spilling food in the classroom.
While blindfolded, the victims were allegedly directed to partially remove their clothing and were warned to keep the incidents secret. One of the students claimed the behaviour had occurred repeatedly, typically when no other students were present.
Police arrested the suspect shortly after the report was filed yesterday at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
